Rojiura Curry Samurai Shimokitazawa

Best curry in Tokyo, truly. Honestly the vegetables were all cooked to perfection, the peppers grilled slightly to give them a little char that goes superbly with the curry. The sweet potato was crisped just enough such that the sweetness came though and complemented the spice of the curry. Worth coming to Shimokitazawa just for this (though the trek is totally worth it for the vintage shops and hipster cafes as well)

Another really delicious meal from the Soul Flower company. Lots of different vegetables, huge portions, and a tasty broth. However, the textures of some of the food tasted a bit too uniformly boiled, and there was too much liquid for the amount of food and rice. Overall, however, a great meal, but not my number one pick for soup curry in Shimokita given the prices.

Pork is tender, chicken is tender. All toppings are delicious. Spice level 6 is just right for someone who likes spicy but not crazy spicy. The only pitfall was that the spicier curry lacked depth compared to the best soup curry places.

Decent soup curry restaurant, around 10-minute wall distance from Shimokitazawa station.Curry is tasty. Portion is big with lots of vegetables. Price is a bit higher than expected, but worth trying.There is a long queue at anytime. You should expect to wait for around one hour.Accept cash only.

I loved this place. Such comfort food, so healthy. You can choose your spice level, the amount of rice you want, and they have a good amount of curry options on the menu. We were the only foreigners there but the had an English menu. Would definitely recommend when visiting the area!

Such a delicious meal! We walked up at 8 pm on a Wednesday to just two other people waiting outside, as we walked up a local couple stopped us to ask how we found ourselves in Shimokitazawa (we’re Canadian and our American friend who’d been before had brought us there) they said we were lucky as usually there is a big line! Service was fast and food was delicious, the coconut curry was SO GOOD. I loved being able to select the meat, soup and spice level - I chose chicken and vegetables, coconut, and no spice because I am a baby. I was pleased with how flavourful everything was, what a treat!

It was very nice had the crispy chicken and normal curry. I ordered spicy lvl 4 what was just below the oh I can't eat this level. This is coming from a European that is not very used to spicy food. My partner thought is was not so spicy. There are a lot of nice veggies in it. And a bunch of options to customize it.

The best thing we've eaten in Japan and I mean all of Japan! We bought 3 boxes to bring home to the States. Open one in LA!

Arrived at 11:30 and there’s already a queue! Waiting time wasn’t too crazy but I guess it makes the food tasted better... 🤪The secret to their success is freshness, veg and meat cooked to order, add the tingly fruity curry sauce / soup and you can’t go much wrong on a wintery morning.

Tried the chicken curry with 20 vegetables. It's delicious and fulfilling meal for 1600 yen. If not so hungry, you can try the one with 8 vegetables. You can choose the quantity of rice and flavour of soup and level of spiciness as well.

One of the tastiest meals I’ve had in my life. The selection of vegetables is better than you’ll have in most places in japan, the chicken is tender and crispy, and the sweet coconut curry is to die for. Have to give 4 stars since I was basically kicked out for pointing out that they were over-charging me for my meal.

This restaurant serves Hokkaido soup curry. It was a good meal even for a meat-eater such as myself. The vegetables were sweet and the pork belly was really good. Do come early as we had to queue for almost 1 and a half hour on a Saturday.

Oh hell yes this place is so good! I like the standard curry and got the xs rice caus the added bits in the curry are pretty filling. Their fried chicken is on point. Fried broccoli too. And their bathroom is cute. English menu was convenient.

There will always be long lines here, so if you can go on a weekday. But totally worth the wait!! This soup curry has so many fresh and colorful vegetables, each bite tastes different. Also you can add all kinds of toppings to make it even more tasty. Highly recommend.

!!!! I've been craving this place since I visited the Sapporo location a few weeks ago (which by the way tops Garaku). This location was a bit smaller and had a slightly less rich broth, but is just as delicious !! Went on a Saturday evening around 7pm and the wait was less than 30 minutes. Vegetables were very crisp and flavorful. 10/10!! Planning on making this my last meal in Japan 😋

Fresh ingredients for sure. Besides the soup curry, home-made style plain lassi was also great. I strongly recommend you to try it. After 4 years since I first visited here, the food quality has been lowered down, price has been getting higher and service is kinda disaster. Still worth visiting for the new visitors though. This shop is opening many branches here and there aggressively. Consequently, cannot maintain the quality in every aspect.

Samurai meal portion size is huge. Soup curry is best I've had. Literally there are 20 veggies in the meal.....would come back for sure....

So like there's literally a 1.5hr line anytime got this place. But honestly it's worth. The presentation is beautiful and it's delicious. It's on the price end for just so curry but it'll be the best soup curry you've ever had. Oh and the lassis are also delicious. Don't hold back on asking about modifications, because for once this is a restaurant in Japan that does not hesitate to listen to it's customers. Albiet there is a cost per modification.

On a rainy day, no queue which is pretty rare. Special samurai with option mild coconut was great (for good appetite though), the beer from Hokkaido was good as well (they do have a good selection, you should find your match).One of the best curry soup I tasted in Japan.

Waited in line for half an hour in the snow. Worth it. Quite different to other Japanese curries but so wholesome, flavoursome, hearty and tasty. Friendly service of course. English menus available. Make sure you have plenty of room in your stomach before you wander in here!

Hands down the BEST soup curry in Japan! The vegetables that come with the curry are so tasty, and you have a wide variety of topping options! You can also choose your curry soup (ie. mild coconut, tomato) and the level of spiciness. I always look forward to eating here when I go home!

Pick from a wide variety of curries like basic mushroom curry, or more exciting options like cheese-filled hamburger. Basic staple, but tasty bite when you’re on the run.

The curry here is crazy delicious. Highly reccomended! The vegetable curry has A LOT of different vegetables.

This soup curry is extremely delicious! Its spicy in that it will make you sweat unlike the other types of spice that burn your lips and mouth. The portion size and the price is fair. It comes with a side of rice as well. Beer compliments soup curry very well. The space is small, so expect to wait. Its a bit far from the station so expect a long walk. Some of staff speak very limited English, so speak slow and use very basic English. They have an English menu available. This place is CASH only. Bring a tic-tack or two...cuz believe me...you'll be needing it after this meal. And for all other details about the soup curry...read the other reviews. If you have never had soup curry, put it on your list of foods to eat.

Amazing Hokkaido-style curry house. Wonderful staff and a cosy atmosphere during the winter, and well worth the wait if a small queue pops up outside. The options for your curry are varied, and you even get to choose its heat from none to blinding. There are also vegetarian options; in fact the local vegetables are really tasty and interesting too, as a foreigner. Personally thought my crispy chicken curry soup was one of the best I've ever had and will certainly make a note to come here again.

The curry is great. Lots of veggies, the crispy chicken was melt-off-the-bone tender. It's higher spicy levels are really spicy! Vegetarian options too! Will definitely be back. The "lussi" (lassi) was okay...I'd call it more a yogurt drink. There isn't much room so if it's busy, you may be waiting for awhile.

This is my first time having soup curry in Tokyo. You will be spoilt by the options available on the menu. You can personalize your soup curry meal with the options of spicy level, choices of meat, the flavor of soup, variety of vegetables etc. The fried chicken thigh is strongly recommended as the chicken is so tender making it the perfect match for the soup curry. Be amazed when you use their washroom. Not only it is clean, you can find mouthwash, dental floss and even hairwax for guys who need a little touch up. So you need not worry that curry breathe will stay in your month.

This is a must visit if you're in the area. Such delicious curry. I had the 20 veggie curry with a level 7 spice - not as spicey as I expected, but full flavoured and very filling.
